Blue
So as many of you know,
Blue is associated with sadness.
“Being blue” is a bad thing,
yet this this ideology is simply madness.
One half of cotton candy,
Blue is the color of Zac Efron’s eyes.
The color of Oreo packaging,
and blueberry pies.
Percy Jackson’s favorite color,
it can be used to describe a moon,
your favorite pair of jeans,
or the sky during the month of June.
It’s the color of everyone’s favorite monster on Sesame Street,
found in the earth and sky,
It’s the most common color on earth,
and a patriotic color on the 4th of July
Frankly it’s the best color in the world,
even light prefers it to the others,
These reasons should be enough to prove me right,
Or do you need another?

ReplyDeleteI really like how you made the stanzas rhyme. It added to the general happy mood you wanted to place on the color blue, and it was very effective. My favorite line is "a patriotic color on the 4th of July" because it connects with everyone who reads it.
ReplyDeleteReally great poem! You show how poetry doesn't need to be indignant, but can truly represent happiness. I enjoyed how you took a different take on the color blue, because its normally associated with sadness.
