Sohrab's Invisibility

This picture represents Sohrab's invisibility in life. When you first notice the green shrubbery it stands out and is present in the scene but eventually, the novelty of the green shrubbery fades out and blends into the concrete. Looking closely, the turbary t is always a point of interest because of the color always contrasts against the black asphalt. similar to Sohrab, after awhile his presence begins to fade from the public eye. When Sohrab tells Amir that he is afraid to go back to the United States with him because he fears that after a while, Amir will get tired of him. The brown bit of dead grass around the edges of the green represent shrubs feeling of dread and anguish that eventually lead to suicide. Just like how Sohrab attempted to commit suicide.

  1. I really enjoyed how you connected the isolated shrubbery to Sohrab's emotions. It was a very natural picture, and one that can be connected to Sohrab's life very clearly. Well done!

  2. I like your image, the way of explaining is something I wouldn't have thought of myself so it was very interesting to see your explanation. Another connection I see is that the plant is growing and surviving somewhere unlikely much like Sohrab.

  3. How you connected the shrubbery to how Sohrab acts and feels towards the end of the book, is very well shown! The shrubbery begins to fade out into the asphalt just how Sohrab fades out with the Afghans in San Fran.

  5. I enjoyed how you picked a picture that displayed the most blending into the background as well as being the focal point. I think you accurately depicted Sohrab's presence within the novel within this picture.

  6. I liked how your picture was sort of interactive to the reader, with the green spot being prominent at first but gradually becoming less interesting.

  10. That is a really cool picture and it describes Sohrab perfectly. You could also say that Sohrab feels isolated after losing his parents, like the shrub is surrounded by concrete rather than other plants.

  11. I think it's really interesting how you took something so mundane and found such a deep metaphor surrounding it. Another metaphor connected to this is how Sohrab might feel lost in the new world that he is introduced to.
