Amir's Growth Throughout Kite Runner
This image represents the theme of Amir's character growth throughout the novel despite his many obstacles. The dirt ground represents the guilt Amir is feeling about Hassan's rape and how pushes everything underground and refuses to deal with his guilt and emotions. The flower represents Amir's hope for redemption through meeting Sohrab and giving him a proper home. The crack in the ground represents Amir's opening up and dealing with the emotions of his past and how he has dealt with his guilt and grown from it. The cracks are caused by Sohrab and Rahim Khan, people who have inspired Amir to be a better person and own up to his past and what is already done.

I like how you connected the dirt to Amir pushing everything "underground". The crack could probably be seen as "opened" when Amir travels to Afghanistan again.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great photo for what you are trying to say. The flower laying right in the crack shows how Amir's growth (the flower) grew out of his guilt and pushed its way through.
ReplyDeleteThe metaphor shown here is amazing showing how Amir wants to push himself past the guilt surrounding him to sprout out of that despair.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you thought about the crack metaphor, and how bright the flower is. You could also say that the dry dirt symbolizes the state of Afghanistan.
ReplyDeleteI love how the juxtaposition of the dirt and the flower implies the strength it took for Amir to become who he is today.
ReplyDeleteI really like all you metaphors, especially the one that compared Amir burying his past to the dirt.
ReplyDeleteI love how there is a crack in the earth represents Amir opening up. You could also say that the pressures of Baba and his peers have pushed all this dirt on Amir and he finally is blooming because he is standing up for what he loves to do: writing. He has grown up so much that he realizes he cannot just push everything to the past and ignore it, but has to face the consequences of his decisions with courage.
